No Fanfare

No sudden tragic accident,
it is quiet,
life continues,
we are given leave to go about our daily business,
to deal with things as we feel fit,
to grieve …or not to grieve,
to ignore, or to pretend,
to rely on others to do heavy lifting,
there is no fanfare without a corpse.

Instead, an absence of gut-wrenching pain,
I can’t help but feel we are writing un-bankable cheques,
and that a legacy, …terrible,
will remain.
